I had the pleasure of hiring and mentoring over 50 interns in my time at Foursquare.
When I was building out the support team, one of the first challenges I faced was staffing the team. We had a team of interns(!) and I had never run an internship program before.
It was very important to me to create a (paid) internship program that focused on helping people get non-technical jobs at tech companies.
It was during this time that I helped start WeSupport, partly to build up the Support community, but also to help build out a network that would benefit future interns who came through the program.
I’ve worked with a number of other companies (Behance, Skillshare, Do Something) who have modeled their own internship programs after the one I created at Foursquare.
